Tut - Mysterious

HP_Mysterious_DMD

Mysterious

This tutorial is my own creation and based on my own ideas. Any and all similarities with any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please do not upload to or offer this tutorial on any other site without asking me first. Thank you.

Material you will need:

PaintshopPro – I’m using PSP X2, but you should be able to follow the tutorial in any version.

A scrap kit – I used the awesome kit Mysterious by Heartfelt Perfections, which you can purchase here.

A font of your choice.

3 tubes of your choice.

No filters required.

Now, let’s get started. It might be helpful if you choose the elements you wish to use beforehand, and open them up in PSP prior to starting the tutorial. That way, you have them handy when following each step.

Also, you don’t have to slavishly follow each positioning nor setting – play and experiment a bit, especially if you use different elements.

If you are unsure how to position an element, refer back to my sample tag.

I do assume you have at least some to moderate experience and understanding of PSP.

The DropShadow throughout the tutorial remains the same: V/H -1/3 O/B 36/6.70.

Resizing throughout the tutorial is done with “Resize all Layers” NOT checked.

Open a new image, 550 x 550.

Open HP-Frame2, copy & paste, Resize 60%.

Open HP-Paper9, copy.

New layer, under frame layer.

With your Magic Wand, click inside the white frame, Selections – Modify – Expand by 2.

On new layer, Paste into Selection, Selections – Select none.

Open a tube, copy & paste, Resize and position inside the white frame to your liking.

Highlight white frame layer, merge down twice (frame, tube and paper).

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-vine frame, copy & paste, Resize 70%, move underneath white frame, center somewhat.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP_Black frame, copy & paste, Resize 65%, move on top of the vine frame.

Optional: I used the Deformation Tool to ‘tug’ the black frame a little bit.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Beads, copy & paste, Resize 65%, move to the right side of the black frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Leaves, copy & paste, Resize 45%, move to the left side of the frame, underneath two-part frame.

Optional: I used the Selection Tool to erase parts of the leave on the right side which was sticking into the white frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Flower2, copy & paste, Resize 40%, move underneath white frame layer, to the top.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Flower, copy & paste, Resize 37%, Free Rotate – Right – 23 degrees, move underneath white frame layer, a bit further to the right and a bit lower than previous flower.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Purple Drape, copy & paste, Resize 42%, move on top of leaves, to the left side of it.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Metalic Drape, copy & paste, Resize 30%, move on top of the first drape.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Frame, copy & paste, Resize 35%, move to the left side of the frame.

Open HP-paper6, copy.

New layer, underneath second frame.

Click with your Magic Wand inside both parts of the second frame, Selections – Modify – Expand by 2.

On new layer, Paste into Selection, Selections – Select none.

Open two tubes, copy & paste them one after another, Resize and position inside both parts of the second frame to your liking.

Click with your Magic Wand inside each frame, Selections – Modify – Expand by 2, Invert and hit “delete” on both frame parts, Selections – Select none.

Highlight second frame layer, and merge down three time (frame, two tubes and paper).

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Bow, copy & paste, Resize 35%, and move underneath the two-part frame, to the top.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Black Wings, Resize 25%, place on top of bow.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-charm, copy & paste, Resize 25%, place on top of the two-part frame, on top of the purple bow.

Optional: I used my Selection Tool to erase the top part and part of the right ‘bow’ of the charm.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Flower string, copy & paste, Resize 40%, Free Rotate – Left – 40 degrees, position to the right side of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Fern, copy & paste, Resize 45%, Free Rotate – Left – 17 degrees, move to the right side of the white frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-candle, copy & paste, Resize 30%, position to the right bottom of the white frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Ribbon2, copy & paste, Resize 50%, move underneath candle layer and position to liking.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Layer crown, copy & paste, Resize 30%, position to the left bottom, on top of the two-part frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Key w bow, copy & paste, Resize 30%, position to the top, and somewhat right, of the white frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open HP-Bag, copy & paste, Resize 30%, Mirror, Free Rotate – Right – 14 degrees, and move on top of the white frame, in the upper part.

Apply Dropshadow.

Optional: I used the Selection Tool to erase part of the string at the top so it looks like it’s ‘hanging’ on the frame.

Open HP-Crumbled Paper, copy & paste, Duplicate.

On original, Resize 65%, Free Rotate – Right – 36 degrees, Arrange – Send to Bottom, move to the right.

Apply Dropshadow.

On copy, Resize 62% degrees, Free Rotate – Left – 43 degrees, position a bit to the left.

Apply Dropshadow.

Now, the next step is to add any further text, copyright information and your watermark to the graphic.

Feel free to merge all layers visible and then resize to your liking or crop the image.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.

Should you care for a different colored background:

New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

XOXOXO,

Dani
