Betrayal

This tutorial is my own creation and based on my own ideas. Any and all similarities with any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

Please do not upload to or offer this tutorial on any other site without asking me first. Thank you.

Material you will need:

PaintshopPro – I’m using PSP X2, but you should be able to follow the tutorial in any version.

A scrap kit – I used the awesome kit Betrayal by Black Widow Creationz, which you can purchase here.

A font of your choice.

A tube of your choice.

No filters required.

Now, let’s get started. It might be helpful if you choose the elements you wish to use beforehand, and open them up in PSP prior to starting the tutorial. That way, you have them handy when following each step.

Also, you don’t have to slavishly follow each positioning nor setting – play and experiment a bit, especially if you use different elements.

If you are unsure how to position an element, refer back to my sample tag.

I do assume you have at least some to moderate experience and understanding of PSP.

The DropShadow throughout the tutorial remains the same: V/H 2/-1 O/B 43/7.15.

Resizing throughout the tutorial is done with “Resize all Layers” NOT checked.

Open a new image, 600x600.

Open Frame1, copy&paste, Resize 60%.

With your Magic Wand, click inside the frame, Selections – Expand by 2, new layer, underneath frame layer.

Open Paper6, copy, on the new layer, Paste into Selection, Select none.

Open your tube, copy&paste, duplicate once, on the original resize and position to liking in frame (move tube layer underneath frame layer).

Click with your Magic Wand inside the frame, Selections – Expand by 2, Invert, on tube layer, hit “Delete” once, Select none.

Merge all three layers, Free Rotate – Right – 33 degrees, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Frame2, copy&paste, Resize 55%.

On your duplicate tube, Resize & position to liking, move underneath second frames layer.

With your Magic Wand, click inside the second frame, Selections – Expand by 2, Invert, on tube layer, hit “Delete” once, Invert again, keep selections, new layer, underneath second tube layer.

Open Paper10, copy, on new layer, Paste into Selection, Select none.

Merge the second frame, second tube and second paper layers, Apply Dropshadow.

Position both frames to your liking – I moved the second frame a bit further to the left.

Open Doodle1, copy&paste, Resize 80%, Mirror, Flip, Free Rotate – Right – 70 degrees, move in between frame layers, a bit to the bottom and right, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Heartchain1, copy&paste, Resize 50%, move on top of the second frame layer, a bit towards the left of the right edge, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Bow5, copy&paste, Resize 50%, move on top of chain layer, on top of the chain, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Flower2, copy&paste, Resize 45%, move between the two frame layers, to the top and left where the two frames ‘meet’.

Duplicate and move the copy to the bottom and right, Apply Dropshadow to both flowers.

Open Swirl2, copy&paste, position to the left side of the frame, on top of the second frame (underneath bow layer), Free Rotate – Left – 30 degrees.

I used the Point-to-Point Selection tool to erase part of the swirl, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Shade3, copy&paste, Resize 90%, Arrange – Send to Bottom, center.

Open Stars4, copy&paste, Resize 75%, move on top of shade layer, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Moon1, copy&paste, move underneath both frame layers, to the left top, Apply Dropshadow.

Open Starglitter4, copy&paste, Resize & position to liking. I duplicated mine several times. Apply Dropshadow to all starglitters.

Open Bead2, copy&paste, position to liking. I duplicated mine several times.

Open Gem2, copy&paste, position to liking. I duplicated mine several times. Apply Dropshadow to all gems.

Open Shade4, copy&paste, Arrange – Send to Bottom, Gaussian Blur 3.00.

Now, the next step is to add any further text, copyright information and your watermark to the graphic.

Feel free to merge all layers visible and then resize to your liking or crop the image.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.

Should you care for a different colored background:

New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

XOXOXO,

Dani
