Tut – Antiqued Romance

CBS~AntiquedRomance~Header
This tutorial is my own creation and based on my own ideas. Any and all similarities with any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

Material you will need:


PaintshopPro – I'm using PSP X2, but you should be able to follow the tutorial in any version.

A scrap kit – I used the beautiful kit Antiqued Romance by Crimson Butterfly Scrapz, which you can purchase here.

1 tube of your choice – I used a Posertube made by me.

A mask –I used WSL Mask228, created by Weescotslass, which is included in the material. Check out her blog here for further masks.

A font of your choice.
Filter - Xero Porcelain which you can get here.


You can find the material here.


Now, let's get started. It might be helpful if you choose the elements you wish to use beforehand, and open them up in PSP prior to starting the tutorial. That way, you have them handy when following each step.

Also, you don't have to slavishly follow each positioning nor setting – play and experiment a bit, especially if you use different elements.

If you are unsure how to position an element, refer back to my sample tag.


Open a new image, 700 x 550, transparent background.

Open GGS_postcard, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 70%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Open GGS_oldpictureframe1, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 50%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Open your tube, copy&paste as new layer and move underneath the frame layer.

On the frame layer, click with your Magic Wand inside the frame.

Selections – Modify – Expand by 2.

Selections – Invert.

On your tube layer, hit "Delete".

Selections – Invert again.

New layer, move down, underneath tube layer.

Open GGS_paper2, copy&paste into selection.

Selections – Select none.

Highlight your frame layer, and merge down twice (frame, tube & paper layer).

3DEffects – DropShadow V/H -3/2 O/B 55/6.95.

Move the frame down and left a bit.

Open GGS_oldbook, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 50%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Image – Mirror and move underneath frame layer.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open GGS_ruffledribbon, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 50%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Free Rotate, Left, 85 degrees.

Move underneath book layer.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Highlight the postcard layer and with your Magic Wand, click outside the card.

On your ribbon layer, hit "delete".

Selections – Select none.

Open GGS_butterfly, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 65%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Free Rotate, Right, 10 degrees.

Move to the top and position it on top of the ribbon, on the edge of ribbon and card.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open GGS_journallingpaper, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 55%, Resize all layers NOT checked.


Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Move underneath the book layer and duplicate this layer.

Image – Mirror, Image – Flip and position to your liking.
Open GGS_antiquependant, copy&paste as new layer.
Resize by 70%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate, Right, 28 degrees.
Apply the same DropShadow as before.
Move to the right edge of the card, underneath the book (look at my header if unsure).

Open GGS_flowerbranch1, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 45%, Resize all layers NOT checked and duplicate this layer.

Highlight your first flower (original) – Free Rotate, Left, 20 degrees.

Move your first flower just above the card layer and to the left edge of it (look at my header if unsure).

Highlight your second flower (copy of original) and move it up a little bit, and underneath the card layer.

Freehand Tool, Point-to-Point, Replace, Feather 0, Smoothing 0, Anti-alias checked.

Mark the stem that is right above the flowers, extending into the upper edge of your image and hit "delete".

CBS~AntiquedRomance~EraseStem

Selections – Select none.

Apply the same DropShadow as before to both flower layers.

Open GGS_paper3, copy.

Highlight your bottom layer (it should be empty, if not, new layer and send to bottom).

Selections – Select all.

Paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask from Disk and find the WSL_Mask228.

Fit to layer, Show all mask & Source Luminance checked; Invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group, and either resize or your Deformation Tool to adjust the size to your liking.

Lower Opacity to 75% (or to your liking).

Feel free to add any additional elements you'd like to use.

Once you are done, make sure you have everything positioned just as you would like it to look on your tag.

Add your watermark and your text.

Merge visible layers.

Plugins – Xero – Porcelain

CBS~AntiquedRomance~XeroPorcelain

50 / 70 / 128 / 0 / 0 / 0

Crop your image and resize to your liking.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.

Should you care for a different colored background, after you merged all layers visible:

New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.

A scrap kit – I used another awesome kit by Wilma aka Wilma4ever, which you can purchase here.

2 tubes of your choice – I used Posertubes made by me which are included in the material.

A mask –I used WSL Mask218, created by Weescotslass, which is also included in the material. Check out her blog here for further masks.

A font of your choice.

Open a new image, 650x 750, transparent background.

Open bow3-wilma4ever, copy & past as new layer.

Resize by 50%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Open your first tube, copy & past as new layer, move this layer underneath the frame layer, resize and position to your liking.

Highlight your frame layer, and with your Magic Wand, click inside the frame.

Selections – Modify – Expand by 2.

Selections – Invert and make sure you are on your tube layer now, hit "Delete".

Selections – Invert, new layer, move this layer (it ought to be underneath your frame, but above your tube layer) if necessary.

3DEffects – Cutout: V/H 4/4 O/B 50/10.55.

New layer and move underneath cutout layer.

Open paper8-wilma4ever, copy&paste into selections.

Selections – Select none.

On your tube layer, 3DEffects – DropShadow: V/H 0/2 O/B 65/8.00.

Highlight your frame layer, and merge down 3 times (frame, cutout, tube & paper layers).

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open cloud1-wilma4ever, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 45%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Duplicate layer, resize by 75%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Move the smaller cloud on top of your frame, and a bit up and to the right.

Move the larger cloud underneath your frame layer, and position it to the left, about center or to your liking.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open cloud3-wilma4ever, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 40%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Move this cloud underneath the frame, but on top of the other larger cloud.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open keychain-wilma4ever, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 50%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Move underneath the smaller cloud, a bit up and to the right of the frame (look at the header tag if unsure).

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open stitches2-wilma4ever, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 45%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Move it underneath frame layer, a bit down and right.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Open flower4-wilma4ever, copy&paste as new layer.

Resize by 50%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Move underneath the keychain, a bit to the right.

Apply the same DropShadow as before.

Duplicate the flower, and resize by 75%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Move the second flower underneath the first, and a bit down.

Highlight the bottom layer, and create new layer.

Selections – Select all.

Open paper3-wilma4ever, copy&paste into selection.

Selections – Select none.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – find the WSL_Mask218 (or one of your choosing).

Fit to layer, show all mask & Source luminance are checked; Invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

I used the Deformation Tool to adjust the mask layer to my liking. Feel free to use the Deformation Tool, or simply resize to your liking and position where you like it best.

Feel free to add any additional elements you'd like to use.

Once you are done, make sure you have everything positioned just as you would like it to look on your tag.

Add your watermark and your text.

Merge visible layers.

Crop your image and resize to your liking.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

No filters required.

Open MK_Frame3-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as a new layer into your main image.
Resize 60%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Open MK_Frame7-Wilma4ever, copy & paste into your new image.
Resize 80%, Resize all layers NOT checked, move the layer down once, underneath first frame.
Open the tube, copy & paste into image.
Resize by 55% (if you used a different tube, you’ll have to adjust this setting), Resize all layers NOT checked.
Move your tube layer down once, underneath both frame layers and position it in MK_Frame3-Wilma4ever.
Highlight the first frame layer (MK_Frame3-Wilma4ever).
Select your Magic Wand and click inside the first frame.
Selections – Modify – Expand by 2.
Highlight the tube layer, Selections – Invert and hit “Delete”, keep selections.
Selections – Invert, new layer and move this one underneath the tube layer.
Open MK_Paper12-Wilma4ever, go to your new layer, copy & paste into selection.
Highlight the tube layer, new layer.
3DEffects – Cutout, 5/5 40/7.95.
Selections – Select None.
Highlight the first frame layer, and merge down 3 times (the frame layer itself, the cutout layer, the tube layer and the paper layer).
Free Rotate, Left 7 degrees.
3DEffects – Drop Shadow V/H 2/3 O/B 55/6.75.
Open MK_Cardboardpiece2-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 45%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate, Right 115 degress.
Apply the same Drop Shadow.
Open MK_Wordart2-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 35%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate, Right 27 degrees.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open MK_Table3-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 35%, Resize all layers NOT checked, and move underneath the second frame and position to your liking.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open MK_Stove1-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 35%, Resize all layers NOT checked, and move underneath the second frame and position to your liking.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open MK_Shelf1-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 25%, Resize all layers NOT checked, and move underneath the second frame and position to your liking.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Select your Magic Wand and click inside your second frame, new layer, move to bottom.
Selections – Modify – Expand by 4.
Open MK_Paper27-Wilma4ever, copy & paste into selection, keep selection, new layer.
Open MK_Paper2-Wilma4ever, copy & paste into selection.
Paper2 is going to be on top of Paper27. Move Paper2 a bit down (or position as you like it best).
Selection Tool – Rectangle, and use it to highlight the part of Paper2 that is extending over the bottom of the second frame and hit “Delete”.
Wilma4ever My Kitchen Erase
Add any further items you would like to your ‘kitchen frame image’.
Make sure you are on your second frame layer, and merge down until the second frame layer, all of the kitchen items (Table, Stove, Shelf in my case) and both papers are merged together.
Open MK_Ribbon6-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer, move to the top.
Resize 35%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate, Left 15 degrees and apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Select your Magic Wand, and click outside of second frame.
Make sure you are on your Ribbon layer and hit “Delete”.
Open MK_Bow1-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 40%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Position to your liking and apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Highlight your second frame layer, and apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open MK_Flower3-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 37%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate, Right 18 degrees.
Position to your liking and apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open MK_Button5-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 30%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Position to your liking and apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Duplicate this layer and position to your liking.
Open MK_Button1-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 33%, Resize all layers NOT checked.

Open MK_Leaf1-Wilma4ever, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize 65%, Resize all layers NOT checked and move to bottom.

Free Rotate, Right 90 degrees.
Position to your liking.
Optional: Select the Free Hand Selection Tool, Point-to-Point, Replace, Feather 0, Smoothing 0, antialising checked.
Wilma4ever My Kitchen Freehand
Remove the bottom stems of both leaves.
Apply the same Drop Shadow to both leaves as before.
Merge visible.
Pick a color from your frame.
New layer, move to bottom and flood fill with your color.
Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask from Disk, WSL_Mask 81.
Fit to Layer, Show all Mask and Source Luminance checked; invert transperancy NOT checked.
Optional: Use your Deformation Tool to fit it to your liking. Lower Opacity if you like as well.
Merge Visible.
Now, the next step is to add any further text and your watermark to the graphic.
Use your crop tool to crop your image, and, if tag is too large for you  resize to your liking.
If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.
Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.
Should you care for a different colored background, after you merged all layers visible:
New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.

A font of your choice.

Xero Clarity – you can get it here
MuraMeister Copies – you can get it here

Now, let’s get started. It might be helpful if you choose the elements you wish to use beforehand, and open them up in PSP prior to starting the tutorial. That way, you have them handy when following each step.

Open SA_valentine_TS_frame2, copy & paste as a new layer into your main image.
Resize 30%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Select your Magic Wand, and click inside the frame.
Selections – Modify – Expand by 3.
New Layer and move this layer down once, underneath the frame layer.
Open paper18, go to your main image on the emtpy layer you just created, copy & paste into selections.
Selections – Select none.
Open your tube, copy & past as new layer. Resize and position to your liking.
This tube layer should be between your frame layer, and the paper layer. If not, highlight the tube layer and move up or down until it is in the center between frame and paper layer.
Select your Magic Wand again, highlight the frame layer and click inside the frame.
Selections – Modify – Expand by 3.
Selections – invert.
Highlight your tube layer and hit “delete” once.
3DEffects – DropShadow – V/H 3/3 O/B 60/5.55
Merge your layers visible, apply the same DropShadow.
Open SA_valentine_TS_heartvine, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize by 30%, Resize all layer NOT checked and Mirror.
Move the vines to the bottom of your frame and position to your liking.
Apply the same DropShadow again.
Open SA_valentine_TS_paperheart, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize by 30%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate – Left by 22 degrees.
Move the heart to the upper lefthand corner of the frame, slightly to the right.
Duplicate this layer.
On your heart layer copy, Selections – Select All – Float – Defloat.
3DEffects – L en K Zitah with the following settings:
Waiting For U Xero
6/11/24/30/43/46/46/30
Selections – Select None.
Resize this layer by 85%, Resize all layers NOT checked and move so it is centered on your original heart.
Apply the same DropShadow as before.
Open SA_valentine_TS_WithLove2, copy & paste as new layers.
Resize by 23%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate – Left by 22 degrees and center on your hearts.
3DEffects – Xero – Clarity – standard settings.
Open SA_valentine_TS_tulip, copy & past as new layer.
Resize by 17%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate – right by 7 degrees.
Move this tulip layer down, underneath the vine layer and to the bottom right of your frame.
Apply the same DropShadow as before.
Open paper20, copy & paste as new layer.
Resize by 60%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Apply the same DropShadow as before.
Duplicate this layer.
On the duplicated layer – 3DEffects – MuraMeister – Copies with the following settings
Waiting For U MM
Line/off/behind
2/5/2/2/-43/0/100/0/100/0/0/360/0
Feel free to add any additional elements you’d like to use.
Once you are done, make sure you have everything positioned just as you would like it to look on your tag.
Add your watermark.
Merge visible layers and add text of your choosing, position wherever you like it best.
Crop your image and resize to your liking.
If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.
Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.
Should you care for a different colored background, after you merged all layers visible:
New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.

Tut - Blue Love

2 tubes of your choice – or use the ones I used in the tutorial, which were createdy by me and are included in the material.
A font of your choice or the one included.
A mask –I used WSL 4, created by Weescotslass, which is also included in the material. Check out her blog here for further masks.
No filters required.

Open SMD_BlueLove_Box_01, copy & paste as a new layer into your main image.
Resize 40%, Resize all layers NOT checked. Move the box a bit to the left, and down.
Drop Shadow: 3/2 50/12.45.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Box_02, copy & paste into your new image.
Resize 40%, Resize all layers NOT checked. Free Rotate, Left, 30 degrees.
Move this layer down, underneath the first box layer, and a bit up and to the right.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Wireheart_01, copy & paste into your new image.
Resize 60%, mirror, und move up and to the right so it ‘sits’ on the edge of the blue box.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Optional: if you like, write something on the tag. Use a font, color and font size of your liking. Feel free to rotate the font, add a Drop Shadow of your choosing etc.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Frame_09, copy & paste into your new image.
Resize 65%, and move it into the center of the brown box, and a bit up.
Selext your Magic Wand and click inside the frame. Selections – Expand by 2.
New layer, move this layer underneath the heart frame layer – do not deselect.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Paper_07, copy & paste into selection.
New layer – 3DEffects – Cutout: 5/5 45/10.
New layer – 3DEffects – Cutout: -4/-4 40/12.
Selections – Select none.
Open your first tube, copy & paste as new layer into your image, and move this layer below the heart frame layer.
Position to your liking. Resizing depends on the tube you are using. Resize to your liking.
Select your Magic Wand again, and make sure you are on the heart frame layer. Click inside the heart frame.
Selections – Expand by 2
Selections – Invert and hit “Delete”.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Merge layers down 4 times – your heart frame layer, your 2 cutout layers, your tube layer and the paper layer should be merged after this.
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Lovewrap_02, Resize 60%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate right 15 degrees.
Move this layer below the heart frame, so that it looks as if it is between the box and the frame.
Selection Tool – Rectangle and select the outer parts of the ribbon that ‘stick out’ over the edges of the box left and right, and delete them.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Frame_01, Resize 40%, Resize all layers NOT checked.
Free Rotate right 25 degrees. Move this frame layer down until it looks like it is above the blue box, but underneath the brown box.
Open your second tube, copy & paste, move layer underneath second frame.
Resize and position tube to your liking.
Optional: Free Rotate your tube right 25 degrees.
Select your Magic Wand and click inside the second frame. Selections – Expand by 1.
Now select your tube layer. Selections invert, hit “Delete”. Keep selection.
New layer, and move this layer down once.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Paper_09, copy & paste into selection.
New layer – 3DEffects – Cutout: 5/5 45/10.
New layer – 3DEffects – Cutout: -4/-4 40/12.
Apply Drop Shadow to your tube – same settings as before.
Select your Magic Wand, click inside your second heart frame.
Now select your tube layer - Selections – Expand by 1, Selections invert, hit “delete” once on your tube layer.  Selections – Select none.
Starting with your second heart frame layer, merge down 4 times – your second heart layer, the 2 cutous layers, the tube layer and the paper layer should now be one layer.
Select your Magic Wand again, and click outside of your second heart frame.
Apply same Drop Shadow as before. Selections – Select none.
Highlight the bottom layer (should be transparent – if not, new layer, Arrange – move to bottom) – Selections – Select all.
Open SMD_BlueLove_Paper_06, copy & paste into selection.
Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask from Disk and find the mask WSL 4 (or one of your choosing).
The following options should be checked for the mask settings: Fit to layer, Show all mask, Source luminance. Invert transparency (if your using the WSL 4 mask) is NOT checked.
Merge group and use the Move tool to position to your liking.
Now, the next step is to add any further text and your watermark to the graphic.
Use your crop tool to crop your image, and, if tag is too large for you, feel free to merge all layers visible and then resize to your liking.
If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.
Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.
Should you care for a different colored background, after you merged all layers visible:
New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.
