Tut - Beary Xmas

Header JST Beary Xmas

Beary Xmas

This tutorial is my own creation and based on my own ideas. Any and all similarities with any other tutorial is purely coincidental.
Please do not upload to or offer this tutorial on any other site without asking me first. Thank you.

Material you will need:

PaintshopPro – I’m using PSP X2, but you should be able to follow the tutorial in any version.
A scrap kit – I used the cute and beautiful kit Beary Christmas by Jens Sweet Temptations, which you can get it here.
If you don’t have or plan on getting the scrap kit, you’ll need 4 tubes of your choice.
A tag template – the one I used is from Gina’s Gems. If you’d like to use the same template as me, you can download the template (# 180) here.
A font of your choice or the one included.
The filter VTR which is part of the penta.com filter series – you can find the official website where you can download the filter here.

Now, let’s get started. It might be helpful if you choose the elements you wish to use beforehand, and open them up in PSP prior to starting the tutorial. That way, you have them handy when following each step.

Also, you don’t have to slavishly follow each positioning nor setting – play and experiment a bit, especially if you use different elements.
If you are unsure how to position an element, refer back to my sample tag.

Open your tag template & duplicate. Close your original.
Delete the credit layer.
Open the 4 tubes of your choice.
Your first tube, copy&paste as new layer and resize to your liking.
You have 2 options here what you can do:
Option One:
If you want to make it look like the tube is ‘in’ the picture, move the tube underneath the frames layers, into the frame furthest to the left.
Highlight the frames layer, and click inside this frame with your Magic Wand.
Selections – Modify – Expand by 2
Selections – Invert and on your tube layer, hit “Delete” once.
Selections – Select none.
3DEffects – DropShadow V/H 2/0 O/B 50/5.66.
Repeat this with the other 3 tubes.
Option Two:
If you want to make it look like on my tag, where the tubes are ‘coming out’ of the frame, leave the tube one layer above the frames layer.
With your Freehand Tool, Point-to-Point selected, erase the bottom part of your tube.
Apply the same DropShadow as indicated above and repeat for the other 3 tubes.
Open Paper18_BearyChristmas_JensSweetTemptations, copy.
Highlight the frames layer.
Selections – Select All - Float – Defloat.
New layer – on your new layer, paste into selection.
Selections – Select None.
Delete the frames fill layer.
Apply the same DropShadow as above.
Optional: use the Freehand Tool, Point-to-Point, to erase the bottom part of the DropShadow from the tubes layer.
Open Paper7_BearyChristmas_JensSweetTemptations, copy.
Highlight the frames fill layer.
Selections – Select All - Float – Defloat.
New layer, on the new layer copy into selection.
Selections – Select none.

Decorate the tag with any additional elements to your liking.
Add any and all copyright information (don’t forget to include the C/R info for the template) and text.
Feel free to crop and resize to your liking.
Once you’ve everything arranged to your liking, you have 2 choices: save with transparent background or colored background.
If you’d prefer a transparent background, delete the white template background layer and save as PNG, or Gif.
If you’d prefer a different colored background, highlight the white template background layer, hit “delete” once, and flood fill with color of choice – or simply save as JPG with the white background.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

XOXOXO,
Dani
