Fantasies in Pink

This tutorial is my own creation and based on my own ideas. Any and all similarities with any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

Material you will need:

PaintshopPro – I’m using PSP X2, but you should be able to follow the tutorial in any version.

A scrap kit – I used the beautiful kit Fantasies in Pink by Mystical Illusionz, which you can purchase here.

A font of your choice.

A tube of your choice.

A mask –I used WSL 257, created by Weescotslass, which is included in the material. Check out her blog here for further masks.

No filters required.

You can get the material here.

Now, let’s get started. It might be helpful if you choose the elements you wish to use beforehand, and open them up in PSP prior to starting the tutorial. That way, you have them handy when following each step.

Also, you don’t have to slavishly follow each positioning nor setting – play and experiment a bit, especially if you use different elements.

If you are unsure how to position an element, refer back to my sample tag.

I do assume you have at least some to moderate experience and understanding of PSP.

The DropShadow throughout the tutorial remains the same: V/H 2/0 O/B 38/5.85.

Resizing throughout the tutorial is done with “Resize all Layers” NOT checked.

Open a new image, 650x600, transparent background.

Open MIZ_pl_candyframes2, copy&paste, Resize 50%.

Open MIZ_pl_PP24, copy.

New layer, move underneath frame layer.

With your Magic Wand, click in the left side of the frame, Selections – Modify – Expand 2.

On new layer, paste into selection, Selections – Select none.

Open MIZ_pl_PP6, copy.

New layer, move underneath frame layer.

With your Magic Wand, click in the right side of the frame, Selections – Modify – Expand 2.

On new layer, paste into selection, Selections – Select none.

Highlight frame layer, merge down twice (frame and two papers).

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_diamondovalframe1, copy&paste, Resize 35%, move on top of first frame.

Use your Selection Tool – Ellipse, and draw an ellipse about the size of the diamond frame.

New layer, move underneath diamond frame.

Open MIZ_pl_PP25, copy.

On new layer, paste into selection, Selections – Select none.

Highlight diamond frame, merge down once.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_frame1, copy&paste, Resize 33% and Arrange – Send to bottom.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_3mushroom4, copy&paste, Resize 35%, move on top of frames, to the bottom right corner.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_cookie5, copy&paste, Resize 55%, position to liking.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_butterfly4, copy&paste, Resize 47%, Free Rotate – Left – 23 degrees.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_flowerflurry1, copy&paste, Resize 50%, Arrange – Send to bottom, move to the right side.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_rose2, copy&paste, Resize 40%, move underneath frame layers, and to the bottom left.

Duplicate, and move a bit further to the bottom and right.

Apply Dropshadow to both.

Open MIZ_pl_sequin3, copy&paste, Resize 55%, move underneath frame layers (on top of the rose layers).

Duplicate twice, and place one a bit up to the left, and one a bit down to the right.

Apply Dropshadow to all three.

Open MIZ_pl_sparkles1, copy&paste, Resize 70%, move on top of frames, but underneath faery and butterfly, position to liking.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_cloud1, copy&paste, Resize 60%, Arrange – Send to bottom, move to upper right corner.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open MIZ_pl_transcloud4, copy&paste, Resize 60%, move on top of the circle beaded frame, in the upper right corner.

New Layer, Arrange – Send to Bottom.

Open MIZ_pl_PP8, copy.

On New Layer, Selections – Select All – paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_257.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity.

Now, the next step is to add any further text, copyright information and your watermark to the graphic.

Feel free to merge all layers visible and then resize to your liking or crop the image.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.

Should you care for a different colored background:

New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.

Open Paper1_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy.

On new layer, paste into selection.

Open Paper16_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 25%, Free Rotate – Left – 40 degrees.

Open Pie_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 25%, move on top of frame, into the lower right corner.

Open Pen2_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 30%, move on top of pie.

Write any message, words etc. you’d like on the paper in the frame (or leave it blank, if you prefer).

Apply Dropshadow if you like.

Open Ribbon2_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptation, copy&paste, Free Rotate – Right – 90 degrees, Resize 32%.

On frame layer, click with your Magic Wand outside the frame.

Back on the ribbon layer, hit “delete”, Selections – Select none.

Open Girl2_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 70%, move on top of the frame, and to the left.

Open Tree_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 75%, Arrange – Send to bottom and position to the left side of the frame.

Open Bling2_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 35%, place on top of frame and to the right side, somewhat in the middle.

Open Flower4_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 30%, place on top of pen.

Open Paper13_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 30%, Arrange – Send to bottom, Free Rotate – Left – 15 degrees and move to the top and right.

Open Paper3_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 33%, place on top of previous paper.

Open Flower2_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 30%, on top of previous two paper layers and position to the left and top of frame.

Duplicate, move a bit to the right and down.

Open Flower1_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy&paste, Resize 25%, on top of the two bottom paper layers, and to the right and bottom of the frame.

New Layer, Arrange – Send to Bottom.

Open Paper4_BlueberryBliss_JensSweetTemptations, copy.

On New Layer, Selections – Select All – paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_251.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity.

Optional: I merged both mask layers after I used the Deformation Tool, and lowered Opacity to 85%.

Now, the next step is to add any further text, copyright information and your watermark to the graphic.

Feel free to merge all layers visible and then resize to your liking or crop the image.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.

Open a new image, 500x650, transparent background.

Open bcs stapled frame, copy&paste, Resize 40%.

Open bcs sparkle paper, copy.

With your Magic Wand, click inside the frame, Selections – Modify – Expand 2.

New layer, paste into selection, Selections – Select none.

Open your tube, copy&paste, move underneath frame layer, Resize and position to liking.

Note: if parts of your tube are sticking ‘out’ of the frame, either use the Magic Wand, click inside the frame, Expand 2, Invert and hit “delete” on your tube layer, or use your Selection Tool to erase those parts.

Apply Dropshadow.

Highligh frame layer, and merge down twice (frame, tube & paper).

Apply Dropshadow.

Open bcs brooch, copy&paste, Resize 25%, move to the right lower corner of frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open bcs gem curl, copy&paste, Resize 65%, move to the right side of the frame, on top of the frame (if you want my effect – also use your Point-to-Point Selection Tool to erase the lower part of the curl – otherwise, feel free to move it underneath frame layer).

Apply Dropshadow.

Open bcs fiber beads, copy&paste, Resize 22%, move underneath brooch layer, to the lower edge of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open bcs butterfly, copy&paste, Resize 70%, move the right side of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open bcs berry glittery flower, copy&paste, Resize 20%, move on top of the fiber beads and position on top of the fiber beads, on the ‘inner’ frame (see preview for position).

Duplicate and move a bit higher along the frame.

Duplicate again, and move higher, close to the top edge of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow to all three flowers.

Open bcs berry button, copy&paste, Resize 30%. Duplicate, and position to liking.

Apply Dropshadow to all buttons.

Open bcs glitter flower, copy&paste, Resize 30%, move underneath frame layer and position to the left side of the frame, under butterfly.

Duplicate, Free Rotate – Left – 33 degrees, and position a bit higher than first glitter flower.

Apply Dropshadow to both.

Open bcs purple flower, copy&paste, Resize 20%, move underneath frame layer, on top of the two glitter flowers.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open bcs feather, copy&paste, Resize 45%, Free Rotate – Right – 100 degrees, move underneath frame layer, to the right side of the frame.

Open gold button, copy&paste, Resize 40%. Duplicate and position to liking.

Apply Dropshadow to all gold buttons.

Open paper flower, copy&paste, Resize30%, move underneath frame layer to the right side.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open golden doodle, copy&paste, move underneath frame layer and to the right bottom corner.

Duplicate, Free Rotate – Right – 35 degrees and move to the left upper corner.

New Layer.

Open bcs glitter paper, copy.

On New Layer, Selections – Select All – paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_249.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity.

New Layer.

Open bcs purple painted paper, copy.

On New Layer, Selections – Select All – paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_255.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity.

Click with your Magic Wand inside the frame, Selections – Modify – Expand by 3.

On hippo layer, Selections – Invert, hit “Delete”.

Apply Dropshadow to hippo.

Open WWDRibbon1, copy&paste, Resize 35%, move on top of frame layer, Free Rotate – Left – 37 degrees and move to the left side of frame.

Open WWDRibbon2, copy&paste, Resize 35%, move underneath first ribbon layer, Free Rotate – Left – 17 degrees, move a bit further to the right of the first ribbon.

With your Magic Wand, click outside the frame, go to each ribbon layer, and hit “Delete”.

Apply Dropshadow to frame, and both ribbons.

Open WWDBinderclip1, copy&paste, Resize 25%, Free Rotate – Left – 6 degrees, move on top of the ribbon layers, to the top edge of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDFlowerPendant2, copy&paste, Resize 32%, Mirror, on top of frame layer and move to the bottom of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDFlowerSpray2, copy&paste, Resize 35%, move on top of frame layer, to the right upper corner of frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDBow1, copy&paste, Free Rotate – Left – 90 degrees, Resize 26%, move underneath spray layer (on top of pendant layer), to the right edge of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDCallaLilies1, copy&paste, Resize 25%, Mirror, move underneath pendant layer, to the left of the frame, and a bit to the bottom.

Optional: I erased the bottom part of the stem that was sticking out underneath the pendant.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDRain1, copy&paste, Resize 30%, move underneath frame layer, and position to liking.

Optional: I erased parts of the rain hanging ‘in’ the face of the hippo.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDRain2, copy&paste, Resize 30%, move underneath frame layer, and position to liking.

Optional: I again erased some of the rain that was hanging ‘in’ the face of the hippo.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDButterfly2, copy&paste, Resize 30%, move to the top and position to the left of frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDSachet1, copy&paste, Resize 25%, move underneath calla lilies, to the bottom left of frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open WWDDoodle1, copy&paste, Resize 40%, Mirror, send to bottom and move to the bottom and right of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

New Layer.

Open WWDPaper6, copy.

On New Layer, Selections – Select All – paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_238.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity.

New Layer.

Open WWDPaper21, copy.

On New Layer, Selections – Select All – paste into selection.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_230.

On tube layer, hit “Delete”.

New layer, Move to bottom.

Open paper7, copy, on the new layer, paste into selection.

Selections – Select None.

On tube layer, merge down.

Effects – Xero – Porcelain: Softness 65, Strength 110, Brightness 140, Red/Green/Blue 0.

On frame layer, merge down.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open paper6, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 40%, move under frame layer.

Open paper5, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 37%, move under frame layer, Free Rotate – Left – 7 degrees.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open paper2, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 34%, move under frame layer, Free Rotate – Right – 10 degrees.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open cbsrose2, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 55%, Free Rotate – Right – 35 degrees, move underneath frame layer.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open cbsbook, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 40%, move underneath rose layer, to the bottom left corner.

Apply Dropshadow.

Apply cbsflower1, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 37%, Free Rotate – Right – 50 degrees, move underneath frame layer, to the left.

Selections – Modify – Expand by 2; Selections – Invert.

On tube layer, hit “Delete”.

Selections – Select None.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_Paper17, copy.

New layer, move underneath tube layer.

On the frame layer, click with your Magic Wand inside the frame.

Selections – Modify – Expand by 2.

On the new layer, paste into selection.

Selections – Select None.

Highlight frame layer, merge down twice (frame, tube and paper).

Open AD_Paper1, copy.

New Layer, move under frame, Selections – Select All, paste into selection.

Open AD_Paper7, copy.

New layer, move under paper, Selections – Modify – Expand by 5, paste into selection.

Selections – Select None.

Merge both paper layers.

Move the merged frame into the upper right corner of the circle.

On frame layer, Free Rotate – Right – 22 degrees.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_BleedingHearts, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 40%, Free Rotate – Right – 24 degrees.

Move on top of frame, position to the bottom of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_Necklace, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 55%, move underneath BleedingsHearts, slightly to the right.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open your second tube of choice, copy&paste as new layer, Resize to liking and place to the left side of the paper circle.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_Card, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 40%, move underneath frame layer.

Free Rotate – Left – 16 degrees, and move a bit to the right of the frame.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_Bloodsplatter2, copy&paste as new layer, move under card layer, to the right (so that a bit of the splatter extends over the paper circle – apply Dropshadow if you like).

Open AD_Flower1, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 65%, move under card layer, but above splatter layer, position it at the lower edge of the frame, a bit to the right.

Duplicate – On copy – Mirror – Flip and move copy to the top and left.

Apply Dropshadow to both flowers.

Open AD_Stitches, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 40%, Free Rotate – Left – 17 degrees, move on top of card layer.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_Tree, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 50%, move on top of splatter, to the left.

With your Point-to-Point tool, erase the ‘trunk’ of the tree extending beyond the paper cirle at the bottom.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_ChainWSpikes, copy&paste as new layer, move on top of tree layer, Duplicate.

Move original with the spike to the left edge of the paper circle.

On the copy, Free Rotate – Left – 29 degrees, and move the spike a bit to the bottom of the original.

With your Point-to-Point tool, erase the the right parts of the chains extending beyond the paper cirle on the right.

Apply Dropshadow to both chains.

Open Ad_BlackHeart, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 45%, move on top of the chains layers, position it where the chains ‘cross’.

Apply Dropshadow.

Open AD_ScatteredHearts, copy&paste as new layer, Resize 65%, then Resize 85%, Send to bottom and position to the right and down of the paper circle, Duplicate.

On copy – Mirror – Flip and move to the upper left corner.

Apply Dropshadow to both scattered hearts layers.

Open AD_Paper4, copy.

New layer, Selections – Select All, paste into selection.

Selections – Select None.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_56.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity.

New layer – move underneath first mask layer.

Open Paper10_ThatMagicMoment_JST, copy.

On your new layer – paste into selection.

Selections – Select none.

Layers – Load/Save Mask – Load Mask – MaskWSL_223.

Fit to layer, show all masks, source luminance checked; invert transparency NOT checked.

Merge group.

Optional: resize mask or use your Deformation Tool, if necessary, to tweek your mask layers to your liking and/or lower the opacity (I lowered mine to 95%).

Now, the next step is to add any further text, copyright information and your watermark to the graphic.

Feel free to merge all layers visible and then resize to your liking or crop the image.

If you prefer a transparent background, save your tag in PNG format.

Otherwise, if you select the JPG, it will automatically add a white background.

Should you care for a different colored background:

New layer, arrange, send to bottom, and floodfill with your color of choice.
